Industrialists Turn to Economical Heating Systems!

Industrialists, who are searching for new solutions in order to reduce energy costs, have focused on heating systems, which have a significant share in energy expenses.

Industrialists have turned to radiant heating systems, which provide savings of up to 60 percent in the business, and offer advantages in terms of installation time and initial investment cost.

The energy crisis experienced worldwide has also hit the Turkish industry. The increase in electricity and natural gas bills has reached 300 percent in the last year. Industrialists, who are searching for new solutions in order to reduce energy costs, have focused on heating systems, which have a significant share in energy expenses. In this direction, many industrialists have turned to radiant heating systems, which provide savings of up to 60 percent in heating, and offer advantages in terms of easy installation and initial investment cost.

25 percent increase in renovation projects!

Making statements regarding the demand experienced in renovation projects in the industry due to increasing energy costs, Çukurova Heat Marketing Manager Osman Ünlü said, “Industrialists who want to control their costs have started to look for alternative system solutions in heating. Due to the increasing demand, there was a 25 percent increase in heating system renovation projects in the industry in the first quarter of the year compared to the previous year. Industrialists turned to radiant heating systems, which provide savings of up to 60 percent in operation and offer time and cost advantages in installation.”

Savings of up to 60 percent

Ünlü also drew attention to the advantage offered by radiant heating systems in terms of operating costs in the industry in his speech: “With radiant heating systems, there is no heat loss due to transfer elements. In addition, the radiant heater heats the designated areas within the space. Since it does not aim to heat the air in the environment as in classical systems, it provides savings of up to 60 percent in operating costs compared to classical systems, although it varies according to factors such as the height of the building where the application will be made and the insulation status. Thanks to low operating costs, the investment made amortizes itself in a short period of 1-3 years.

“The daily water consumption of the business has decreased by 120 tons and electricity consumption by 95 percent”

Ünlü also explained the advantage offered by radiant heating systems in the industry through an example reference project: “According to the report of a customer of ours, which operates in the rail systems sector and is a leader in its field, including the advantages it provided in the business after switching from a steam heating system to a radiant heating system;

In cold weather, the ambient temperature with the steam heating system was 10-13 degrees, while the ambient temperature with radiant heating systems increased to 17 degrees.

In addition, the materials in the production area were heated by radiation and the situation of employees huddling under the blower due to cold was eliminated. This situation also increased the performance of the employees.

The facility’s one-hour natural gas consumption decreased from 615 cubic meters to 415 cubic meters. The facility’s one-hour natural gas consumption decreased by 32 percent. With the radiant heating system, which provides the necessary comfort conditions with 7 hours of operation instead of 12 hours a day, daily energy savings reached 60 percent. With radiant heating that does not require water, the daily water consumption of the business has decreased by 120 tons and electricity consumption by 95 percent,” he said.

30 percent more saving in the initial investment

Ünlü, who stated that radiant heating systems were installed in a factory of 10 thousand square meters in a week, also emphasized the advantage offered by the system in terms of initial investment cost: “The initial investment cost of radiant heating systems is 30 percent lower than classical systems. Because in radiant heating systems, heating is not done by transportation as in classical systems. Heating is done by radiation. The system is installed in the space to be heated and hung from the ceiling. The gas burned by the burner is circulated inside the radiant pipes and the energy emitted from the heated pipe is directed downwards by reflectors and heating is done. Therefore, in radiant heating systems, there is no need for transfer elements such as boiler, circulation pump, fan, pipe/channel, apparatus, convector or vent in classical systems,” he concluded.
