Global Electricity Consumption of Air Conditioning Systems Could Increase ‘3-Fold’ by 2050

Air conditioning systems consume 10 percent (2,000 TWh) of the world’s electricity. This figure is expected to triple by 2050, parallel to the world’s rapid population growth and industrialization.

Making a statement as part of World Productivity Week (December 21-27), Çukurova Heating Marketing Manager Osman ÜNLÜ highlighted the 30 percent savings to be achieved in air conditioning systems with the high-efficiency ‘water radiant panel’ product group.

Air conditioning systems consume 10 percent (2,000 TWh) of the world’s electricity. However, in line with rapid industrialization, it is estimated that the air conditioning sector will use 6,200 TWh of electricity globally by 2050.
